(Thunder Bay) – PARO Centre for Women’s Enterprise is proud to announce that Rosalind Lockyer, PARO Centre founder & CEO, has been named a finalist for the 2024 RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards for the Social Change — National Impact Award.

The RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards are the pre-eminent national business awards recognizing the country’s leading women entrepreneurs. Now in its 32nd year, the program is an initiative of Women of Influence+, an award-winning organization dedicated to advancing Canadian women.

From a pool of nominations that spanned the entire country, 21 finalists from coast to coast have been selected to represent seven award categories. The Social Change — National Impact Award is dedicated to a female entrepreneur that has made a profound and positive impact in society.

This award recognizes an exceptional leader of a registered charity, social enterprise or not-for-profit that is dedicated to their unique brand of social change, at a national or international level. Applicants have garnered extraordinary support from the national or international community by being champions for philanthropy and volunteerism in Canada and beyond.

Rosalind Lockyer is one of three regional finalists being recognized in this category.

PARO Centre for Women’s Enterprise is a women-centered community economic development organization that supports women entrepreneurs who wish to start, scale and expand their businesses in Canada.

“To be nominated for this prestigious RBC award is a privilege and an honor for which I am very proud. For nearly 30 years, PARO has supported thousands of women to achieve their dreams. This award nomination is a reflection of the significant work accomplished by a legacy of women supporting women,” says Rosalind Lockyer, founder and CEO of PARO Centre for Women’s Enterprise.

The winners will be announced and celebrated in-person at the 32nd Annual Awards Gala on Friday, November 8, 2024. This inspiring red-carpet event will take place at the Ritz-Carlton, Toronto. During this special event, nominees, executives, dignitaries and notable industry guests will come together for an evening of celebration and meaningful connection with business and non-profit leaders from across the country.

The RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards recognize women business owners from across Canada who make impressive and substantial contributions to the local, Canadian or global economy. These awards recognize businesswomen and leaders of non-profits from three major regions across Canada: East, Central and West. All nominees are required to submit thorough applications, which are reviewed and judged by a panel of prominent business leaders and subject to a due diligence performed by Deloitte.

“The 2024 finalists exemplify the remarkable impact of women entrepreneurs in today’s business world,” says Dr. Rumeet Billan, CEO, Women of Influence+. “They lead with purpose, inspire through action, and demonstrate the power of vision and commitment. We are proud to spotlight their achievements and pave the way for a new generation of leaders who will continue to drive meaningful change.”
